Review of Twidroid twitter app

I have been using Twidroid as long as I have been using twitter.  I have also installed the plugin for adding your location to a tweet.  I have settled into using it more than I use Swift.  I find it to solid functional software. I have not found any bugs in it myself.  The only issue that I have is the size of the application.  At over 1 meg, it takes up a lot of space in storage for what it does. For a user on a stock G1, progam space is a very limited resource.  Since I have rooted my phone and the rom I prefer automatically uses apps2sd, I do not have this space issue.

I would recommend Twidroid if you have the space or run a rom that works around that issue.  Otherwise take a real close look at Swift, which seems to work just as well except for the geolocation.

Review of Swift twitter app

I have decided I should write some reviews of the apps that I check out on my phone.  I am going to start with the twitter client called Swift.

Overall it is a nice, small app for twitter.  The interface is nice to work with once a person discovers the bar on top with your username is a menu. With features including the ability to search for other users, search all twitter, following and unfollowing, it does most of what you can do from a computer.

On the down side, the notification does not indicate how many new messages there are and it does not have the ability to include location in a tweet.

I am currently switching back and forth between this app and Twidroid for my twitter needs.  I will write a review of Twidroid later.

a word of caution about the G1 dev tools app

I just spent a hour and half recovering my phone after I enabled a setting that put the phone into a boot loop.

I am glad that I had a BART backup from the last time I did a rom upgrade.  I ended up wiping all data and restoring the backup, then reapplying the latest update.  I still need to replace the Contacts.apk with the latest one.  Without Amon-Ra's custom recovey rom I would have ended up without a working phone until I got back home.

It is definitely work keeping the base defanged rom and the update I am currently using on the sd card.

For more information about G1 customization go to the xda developers forums.

Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro on a T-Mobile Wing

I sitting here looking at a T-Mobile Wing that my nephew installed a windows mobile 6.5 rom on.  It even has the Touch-Flo interface on it.  It does work, but is too slow to do much with.  They sent it to me to "fix" it.  It seems he could not figure out how to put the stock rom back.  I am heading to my computer now to see how much it will take to put it back.

Sound system tutorial

This afternoon I met with a member of the church a/v team and walked him through the basics of the sound system.  He now knows enough to do the basics without damaging the system.

I need to look at the calendar and find a couple of times to schedule training sessions and a regular schedule for the team to meet.

Testing another blogger client

I am posting this with a different blogger client for my T-Mobile G1 called Blogaway.  It allows labels but does not seem to allow editing of old posts.

This looks promising, except for the lack of editing old posts.  It does have an option to include geotagging.

Done dealing with the HP TC1100

Today I shipped the tablet back to my sister-in-law for her son. After I got xp tablet installed and all the updates, it is a nice little unit. The battery is doing ok, lasting over an hour and a half with wifi on. It should work ok for a high school student.
